CA-LAC/ANF- Island - I-5 brush fires - 75 acres 100%

ANF, LACFD firefighters are battling multiple hot spots east of the 5 Freeway. Numerous starts along I-5 corridor north of Castaic

Update: 2100 hrs - 100% contained @ 75 acres
Update: 1900 hrs - Winds dying, IC getting good control.
Update: 1834 hrs - 60 acres, I-5 open with CHP escorts - traffic being allowed on I-5 with Round Robin escorts. The closures backed up traffic for several miles.
Firefighters and aircraft making good progress, most hotspots are out and IC cancelled the 2nd LA Dozer.
Update: 1815 hrs - Island IC reporting approximately 45 acres. 3 fires total. 1 fire remained isolated, the 2nd and 3rd fire have burned together.
Update: 1737 hrs - A series of small brush fires has forced a closure of the northbound I-5 Freeway @ Parker.
No structures were threatened
No evacuations ordered.

Location: U.S. Forest Service land north of Castaic,@ Interstate 5 just north of Templin Highway.
IC: Joint command Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles County Fire.
IA: 1647 hrs - One larger fire and a series of small brush fires along I-5 burning to the east, appears to be a slope and wind driven, moderate ROS, huge potential.
Resources: Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles County Fire Department, CAL FIRE, At least three helicopters and a first-alarm unit comprising more than 100 people were dispatched to the fire. Four Air Tankers committed.
