USFS: Regional Fire Situation and Outlook - Region 5

Pacific Southwest Region Outlook:
Above normal temperatures throughout the state are present today, but as a low pressure system builds off the coast temperatures will decrease. By the beginning of next week higher humidity and below normal temperatures should be present throughout most of the state. The change in weather will also bring gusty winds and an increasing chance of thunderstorms and lightning, mainly in Northern California.

Most areas throughout the state are currently in the “Very Dry” category, but as the weather shifts many areas will increase in moisture back to the “dry” category. Current conditions remain dry and warm and there is a potential for high winds in parts Northern California this weekend, but the likelihood of a large fire occurring will moderate slightly over the course of the next week.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
