GACC Update: -07/20/09 -1840hrs The Tennant Incident, CA-KNF is reported at 3,120 acres with 10 percent containment. The fire burned actively today. The Backbone Incident, CA-SRF/SHF/KNF is currently 6,324 acres with 80 percent containment. The GACC had over 35 initial attack fire today, burning a couple hundred acres. Hot, dry conditions should persist for the next week.
Update: -07/21/09 -0600hrs - NorCal Team2 managing Klamath NF - Tennant Fire (4168 acres-20% contained) near Macdoel, CA (40 miles NE of Weed).
Update: -07/20/09 -1600hrs New acreage is 3100+ and The Tennant fire header has Ice capped out a few times over the last 5 hours. Fire burning fast, #pyrocumulus cloud.
Update: 7-20 0630 hrs -CA-KNF, Tennant, this morning is reported at 1,000 acres and 25 percent contained. Molhoeks's Type 2 team has been ordered.
Update: 7-20 0530 hrs - Update from IC -209 at 0523hrs is 1000+acres 25% cont. Predicted cont 7-25-09 at 18hrs. Needs more ST of Eng and Crews!! Fire is moving towards the east towards Bray. Approx 25 Structures threatened. Trying to open Hwy 97 at least one lane to shuttle cars through. 209 should be out shortly.
Update: 1900 hrs - 15% Containment @ 19:00 hrs
structures threatened have been evacuated. Dozers 2640/2642 are @ scene along with KNF Dozer 1.
Update: 1840 hrs - Per North Ops at : 100 acres with 15 percent containment and a moderate rate of spread.
Update: 1815 - reported that it is on the Goosenest Ranger District near Highway 97.
Road closures: Meanwhile, traffic is being stopped in Weed and diverted to Interstate 5. Southbound traffic is similarly halted at Highway 140 in Klamath Falls, Ore. California Highway Patrol officer Larry Brown said the highway has been closed throughout the night. The road may reopen to one-way traffic around 11:30 a.m. today, but motorists should nonetheless expect two to three hour delays, he said.
