CA-SLU-Lake - Wildland Fire(Brush) - 175 acres 70%

PRESS RELEASE from Cal Fire

The Lake Fire remains 70% contained and has consumed approximately 175 acres. Full containment is anticipated tomorrow afternoon.

Fire crews will continue working throughout the day, tonight and into tom orrow. There is still some spotting within the perimeter of the fire.

A spokesperson with Cal Fire is hesitant to call the Nacimiento Lake fire 100 percent contained as of 9:30 a.m., though remains confident containment will be reached soon.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped around 9 p.m. Sunday night.

The brushfire started around 1:30 p.m. Sunday near the Nacimiento Lake Drive entrance. Investigatores determined that a vehicle's exhaust sparked the fire.

175 acres were burned in the fire, with winds and 106-degree heat fueling the blaze.

Power to the area has been restored.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
