Evacuations Alert: Immediate Threat Evacuation - Chicken Ridge Subdivision of Covelo

Evacuations at Upper Humboldt (Lomo) and 32.....
Upper Humboldt is the
closure area per CHP CAD.
Butte Meadows also being evacuated.
Hwy 32 closed at junction with 36.

4:40 p.m.: Hwy 32 closed by fire, Evacuations occuring
Highway 32, east of Chico, is being closed between Humboldt Road (Lomo) and Highway 36, and firefighters are being moved to the location to fight a fire in Big Chico Creek drainage that's moving toward Butte Meadows.
Search and Rescue personnel are being summoned to Butte Meadows to assist with the evacuation of 400 Boy Scouts and staff now staying at nearby Camp Lassen.
Butte Meadows Evacuees : 351 Boy Scouts, 64 staff to be evacuated from Camp Lassen.
According to California Highway Patrol reports, Butte Meadows is being evacuated too.

Evacuations Alert: - Immediate Threat Evacuation for the Chicken Ridge Subdivision of Covelo.

CalFire is issuing an Immediate Threat Evacuation for the Chicken Ridge Subdivision of Covelo. The Mendocino County Sheriff Department is evacuating residents. The evacuation center is being established at the Willits High School, located at 299 North Main Street in Willits. (6-23-08 @ 10:00pm)

11:15 a.m.: Officials evacuation status in Pulga - "immediate threat"

PULGA — Fire officials have updated the status of evacuations along Pulga Road off Highway 70.

The area is under an "immediate threat" evacuation, according to Robert Miller

How fires get their names

Every year in California thousands of wildfires start throughout the state. In most cases, the dispatch center sending the initial resources to a wildland fire will designate a name for the fire, but the first on scene engine or fire official can also name the incident. Fires are usually named for the area in which they start – a geographical location, local landmark, street, lake, mountain, peak, etc. Quickly naming the fire provides responding fire resources with an additional locater, and allows fire officials to track and prioritize incidents by name. For example during the Southern California Fire Siege of 2003, the largest wildland fire in California history, the Cedar Fire in San Diego County, was named after the Cedar Creek Falls area where it started. The destructive Old Fire, which burned during the same time period in San Bernardino County, was named after the road along which it started - Old Waterman Canyon Road.
