Incident Overview
Twenty-nine small fires were ignited by lightning across the forest in the last two days.
The majority of these fires are contained with full containment expected by end of shift today.
In addition to producing lightning, these storms also produced a lot of moisture resulting in several slides that have blocked forest roads.
Please be careful traveling forest roads and be mindful of changing weather conditions. Beaver Creek Road near Oak Knoll was blocked yesterday and is now clear. There is a 100 foot long, four inch deep slide at Walker Creek Road south of Seiad Valley. Contract crews are working to clear the Walker slide. Additional slides in Music Creek on the Salmon River were reported. With additional storms in the forecast please be aware that road conditions can change very quickly and that new slides and flooding could occur.
