California Firefighters Rescue Six
By Alex Groves, Staff Writer
Firefighters helped six people escape from the second story of a burning apartment complex in Redlands over the weekend.
About 6:40 p.m. Sunday, crews got a call on the blaze in the 100 block of West Pennsylvania Avenue, accord to authorities.
The fire, which is believed to have started from a barbecue on the patio, spread to the front entrance of the dwelling on the ground floor by the time crews arrived.
Firefighters grabbed two children - a 4-year-old girl and 7-year-old boy - as they were handed down by their mother and aunt from a second-story window, according to a news release from the Redlands Fire Department.
The firefighters then helped the children's mother, aunt and grandparents exit through the same window.
Firefighters put out the blaze within 12 minutes of arriving, according to the release. No injuries were reported.
The fire caused damage to the patio, front door and attic
