MVU: Smoke may be visible in the East San Diego County Wednesday as firefighters conduct a controlled burn in Jamul

JAMUL - The controlled burn is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Highway 94 near Rancho Jamul Drive, according to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler.
The purpose of the burn is to reduce the amount of brush in the area that could fuel a wildfire, he said, noting it also will serve as a training exercise for firefighters.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
