NORCAL: WINTER STORM WARNING ABOVE 4000 FEET

 Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 5 am Saturday to 11 am pdt Sunday above 4000 feet heavy snow continues in the Sierra overnight


WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING.SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT, FOOD AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.

Winter Storm Warning
A WINTER STORM WARNING ABOVE 4000 FEET REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM SATURDAY TO 11 AM PDT SUNDAY FOR THE KERN COUNTY MOUNTAINS - WESTERN PLUMAS COUNTY/LASSEN PARK-INCLUDING THE CITIES OF CHESTER AND QUINCY
 NORTH CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST SISKIYOU COUNTY-INCLUDING THE CITY OF TENNANT

   SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: FROM 8 AND 14 INCHES ABOVE 5000 FEET. TWO TO 5 INCHES ARE LIKELY AT PASS LEVELS SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING. SNOW LEVEL: AROUND 7000 FEET TONIGHT...LOWERING TO AROUND 4500 FEET SATURDAY...AND 3000 FEET SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING.
 WINDS: WEST AT 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH ARE EXPECTED SATURDAY SHIFTING TO NORTHWEST SATURDAY NIGHT.
 IMPACTS: HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS WILL CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW CREATING HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS.
 TIMING: STEADY PRECIPITATION WILL DEVELOP EARLY SATURDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE EVENING BEFORE TURNING TO SHOWERS SATURDAY NIGHT  
 LOCATIONS: TEHACHAPI, FRAZIER PARK, BEAR VALLEY, PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB.
 ROADS: HIGHWAYS THAT WILL BE AFFECTED INCLUDE INTERSTATE 5 OVER THE GRAPEVINE - HIGHWAY 58 THROUGH TEHACHAPI PASS AND HIGHWAY 178 THROUGH WALKER PASS. - PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 97 WILL BE SNOW COVERED AND HAZARDOUS. - HIGHWAY 3 WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND HAZARDOUS. SAWYERS BAR ROAD NEAR ETNA SUMMIT WILL ALSO BE IMPACTED.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. IF YOU HAVE TRAVEL PLANS TO OR FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA...CHECK THE LATEST WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS.

Affected Counties or parts of:Yuba, Plumas, Yolo, El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Sierra, Alpine, Shasta, Tuolumne, Stanislaus, Sacramento, Placer, Solano, Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Sutter, Lake, Tehama, Nevada , Tulare, Mariposa, Merced, Kings, Kern, Fresno, Madera, Modoc, Siskiyou
