RED FLAG WARNING / DRY LIGHTNING / CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG  WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM PDT SATURDAY.

THUNDERSTORMS: COULD DEVELOP OVER THE SIERRA BY THIS AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO SATURDAY. STORMS MAY INITIALLY BE DRY...BUT SHOULD BECOME WETTER OVER THE WEEKEND. ALSO...LIGHTNING STRIKES ARE ALWAYS POSSIBLE AWAY FROM RAIN CORES AND COMBINED WITH LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS COULD CAUSE A HAZARDOUS FIRE ENVIRONMENT.
WINDS: GUSTY AND ERRATIC WIND GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH ARE POSSIBLE NEAR ANY THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY  EVENING. IN ADDITION... LOCAL EAST WIND OF 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS 30 TO 40 MPH ARE POSSIBLE TODAY THROUGH SATURDAY.
IMPACTS: VERY DRY FUELS...LOW HUMIDITIES...DRY LIGHTNING AND GUSTY WINDS COULD COMBINE TO CREATE A HAZARDOUS FIRE ENVIRONMENT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING BELOW 5000 FEET.
Instruction:
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF DRY LIGHTNING...STRONG WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.

 STANISLAUS NF WEST OF THE SIERRA CREST-NORTHERN SIERRA INCLUDING THE TAHOE AND ELDORADO NF/S WEST OF THESIERRA CREST-

Affected Counties or parts of:
Yuba, Plumas, Yolo, El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Sierra, Alpine, Shasta, Tuolumne, Stanislaus, Sacramento, Placer, Solano, Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Sutter, Lake, Tehama, Nevada
