Update: CA-SBR-Glenview - San Bruno gas line explosion / WUI fires

#SanBrunoFire Update: 15 acres, 75% contained., 38 homes destroyed, 7 damaged. 6 dead, 53 patients, 4 firefighters w/ minor injuries.
  • Explosion was on a 30" pipeline installed in 1948, Initial blast destroyed water system for firefighting.
  • ABC reported the crater from the explosion is 30' x 25' x 15' deep.
  • Area resident was just on the air reporting that for three weeks residents had been calling PGE regarding a smell of gas coming from sewers in the area. Especially in the evening in the area of the explosion.
  • NOPs; The GACC is also supporting an incident in San Mateo County:
  • City of San Bruno: The Glenview Incident is an urban incident, about 10 acres and 50 percent contained. The result of an explosion, this fire is burning in a residential neighborhood. Numerous homes have been destroyed or damaged. An FMAG has been approved for this incident. This is a local government incident, State and Federal entities will be providing support as requested.
