TNF: Nine Lake Tahoe Lightning Fires suppressed

Tahoe National Forest: The nine fires sparked by Sunday's lightning strikes in the Tahoe National Forest all were contained by Sunday evening, public affairs officer Ann Westling said.

American River Ranger District - Eight fires from 1/4 acre to 2 acres in size.
Two crews, two helicopters, five engines and one water tender were mopping up Monday.

Yuba River Ranger District - One fire 5 miles west of Graniteville on the was contained at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at about 1 acre.

“We were able to pick these fires up quickly yesterday due to our fast initial attack and because there were very few other fires,” said Forest Duty Officer Donn Thane.

Resources from El Dorado National Forest, CalFire and the Tahoe National Forest responded.
