Amber alert: Nevada Amber Alert expanded to include California, Arizona

AMBER Alert - Non-custodial mother Claire Tourand abducted four children. Posssibly fleeing to Mexico

Suspect: 34 year old white female 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weight approximately 220 pounds, large build, with brown hair, hazel eyes.

Suspect Vehicle: White 1998 Mercury Sable with Nevada plates number 369-SDH.

July 11, 2009 - 7:00pm - Investigators are expanding AMBER Alert to the entire state of Nevada, as well as the entire state of California and the entire state of Arizona.

According to Brooke Keast, Public Information Officer, Washoe County Sheriff's Office, investigators think Claire Tourand may be taking the children to Mexico.
Keast also said investigators think Claire Tourand is still driving a white 1998 Mercury Sable with Nevada plates number 369-SDH.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has requested activation of the Emergency Alert System AMBER Alert for the confirmed abduction of 4 children in the area of Washoe County.

The victims may be with their non-custodial mother Claire Tourand. The suspect is a 34 year old white female 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weight approximately 220 pounds, large build, with brown hair, hazel eyes.
Suspect was last seen driving a white 1998 Mercury Sable with Nevada plates number 369-SDH.

Tourand was scheduled to meet with Social Services today regarding custody of the children and failed to show up for the meeting.
Investigators determined that Tourand left her residence sometime in the last 24 hours and fled with the four children.
A court order was issued for return of the children by a family court judge who stated that there was an immediate risk of harm to the children.

How fires get their names

Every year in California thousands of wildfires start throughout the state. In most cases, the dispatch center sending the initial resources to a wildland fire will designate a name for the fire, but the first on scene engine or fire official can also name the incident. Fires are usually named for the area in which they start – a geographical location, local landmark, street, lake, mountain, peak, etc. Quickly naming the fire provides responding fire resources with an additional locater, and allows fire officials to track and prioritize incidents by name.
