September 12, 2008

Wildland fire activity remains light throughout the country. Three large fires were contained: one each in California, Idaho, and Oregon.

Crews and Incident Management Teams are stationed in Atlanta, Georgia; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Denton, Texas to support hurricane activity.

Weather Discussion: The West is predicted to be warm and dry over the next few days. Thunderstorms may develop over Wyoming and the Four Corner states.

Deerhorn (Hoopa Valley Tribe, Bureau of Indian Affairs): 386 acres at 90 percent contained. This fire is one mile southeast of Weitchpec.
Siskiyou/ Blue 2 Complex (Klamath National Forest): 81,356 acres at 95 percent contained. The complex is 18 miles southwest of Happy Camp. Minimal fire activity was reported.

Bear Wallow Complex (Klamath National Forest): 47,998 acres at 75 percent contained. This complex is 14 miles west of Etna. Minimal fire activity was reported.

Little Park (Twin Falls District, Bureau of Land Management): The fire was contained at 1,792 acres.
South Barker (Sawtooth National Forest): 34,250 acres. This fire is two miles east of Featherville. This wildland fire use is being managed to accomplish natural resource objectives.

Nevada

East Slide Rock Ridge (Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest): 54,549 acres at 50 percent contained. This fire is 15 miles southeast of Jarbidge.

Oregon

Acres: 6,772

Fires contained: 1

Rattle (Umpqua National Forest): 3,272 acres at 15 percent contained. This fire is 30 miles east of Glide. Structures and power lines are threatened. Highway 138 is closed. Evacuations are in order.

Lonesome Complex (Rogue River National Forest): 3,500 acres at five percent contained. This complex of three fires is 20 miles northeast of Prospect.

Lime (Vale District, Bureau of Land Management): The fire was contained at 349 acres.
