Projected incident movement/spread:
12 hours: Afternoon predicted south winds will continue to fuel the problem side of the incident. Fire still moving eastward upcanyon in the Middle Fork of the Feather River. Significant eastward movement of the fire towards Lumpkin Road.
Major problems and concerns:
Potential structure threats if fire cannot be held at Lake Oroville. Fire is spotting half mile. The Middle Fork of the Feather River may not hold the spread. Large potential for spotting into the community of Berry Creek where hundreds of homes are located. Structure threatend north of Lumpkin Road to Island Bar Hill Road. Immediate evacuations in progress in these areas. Potential for spotting to the east and north.
Today's observed fire behavior:
Torching and spotting. The fire continued to make up canyon runs to the east during the day. Late afternoon development of thunder cells over the incident caused erratic down drafts which affected fire control operations by having to retreat to safety zones.
