From The News....
At least 30 acres of the Mendocino National Forest caught fire Thursday but containment is expected Friday, said CalFire Public Information Officer Mickie Jakez.
The fire, first reported at 12:37 p.m., is based near the Crane Mills property near the foothills.
Jakez said two handcrews from the Department of Corrections, six fire engines, one water tender and a bulldozer have been provided between CalFire and the Tehama County Fire Department.
Also on scene are four bulldozers from the Crane Mills being used to push vegetation away from the fire's edges.
That makes for a total of 64 people fighting the fire, she said.
It remains unclear when the fire will be extinguished, and its full extent has yet to be mapped, she said. The cause is under investigation by the same person doing the mapping.

I drove up to Redding today and spotted the smoke plumes from the Whiskey Fire at noontime. On our way back South about 4 hours later, we noticed that the plumes were much larger and split into several separate plumes. It didn't look good at all from I5..
