The Red Cross Evacuation Center will be located at King City High School, 720 Broadway Street, King City.

Animals: "Take your pet with you when you evacuate."
Pets and livestock -For information and assistance regarding evacuation of pets and livestock during the Indians Fire, please contact the SPCA of Monterey County at (831) 373-2631. The SPCA staff is prepared to help residents with advice for preparing their animals for evacuation, and can assist them with transporting pets and livestock during an evacuation, if needed. In addition, the SPCA is working with the Red Cross to provide an animal evacuation center next to the Red Cross Shelter at King City High School. SPCA Public Information Officer, Beth Brookhouser advises residents to "Take your pet with you when you evacuate."

As a precautionary measure, and in order to prepare for possible future fire operations in the area, the Monterey County Sheriff, in cooperation with the Indians Fire Incident Command, has issued a Large Animal Advisory for Arroyo Seco Road and Reliz Canyon Road. This advisory recommends the removal of large animals and livestock from the area along Reliz Canyon Road, and along Arroyo Seco Road between the Elm Street bridge and the Arroyo Seco Recreation Area.

The purpose of the advisory is to give livestock and large animal owners sufficient time to gather and transport their animals and minimize vehicle congestion along the roads. Fire managers expect that there will be additional fire vehicle traffic along both roads in the coming days as they continue fire operations in the area.

The SPCA of Monterey County will provide a large animal evacuation center at the Salinas County Fairgrounds, at 625 Division Street, King City. Please contact the SPCA before moving animals to the fairgrounds. The SPCA can be reached at (831) 373-2631.

Additional information about pet and livestock evacuations is available on the SPCA-MC website at http://www.spcamc.org/

Little to no fire activity is anticipated on the southwest flank. A burn-out operation may occur in the northwest or along the east flank if conditions are favorable or the fire challenges containment lines. Smoke plumes may be visible from interior burning or from possible firing operations.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
