Body found in Cleveland National Forest

Cleveland National Forest - Sheriff's deputies are investigating a body found in the Cleveland National Forest near the Pine Valley Creek drainage area.

The body was discovered Monday by a U.S. Forest Service worker who routinely hikes the area, said Sgt. John Shellhammer, a spokesman with the Sheriff's Department aerial support fleet.

No description of the person or details on how long the body has been there have been provided yet.

Sheriff's Deputies are hiking to the area now and will call the aerial support unit to advise them of the exact location, Shellhammer said.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
