SAR: CAL Fire Crews airlift injured motorcyclist

Crews airlift injured motorcyclist after crash, rock slide

Personnel with CAL Fire spotted the injured person from the air Saturday afternoon. A rock slide made it difficult to land the rescue helicopter near the victim, according to Massiel Ladron De Guevara, public information specialist for CAL Fire.

The person, whose sex and age were not available, sustained moderate injuries, fire officials said. It was not known what the motorcyclist collided with.

Authorities had to hike to the victim from about a mile away, according to unconfirmed radio dispatches.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
