Summary

Evacuations continue in Chiquito Canyon, Hasley Canyon, Val Verde, Hopper Canyon, and towards the town of Fillmore.

A Red Flag warning remains in effect through Wednesday due to gusty northwest winds and relative low humidity. High wind warnings are in effect until 3 pm today.Strong northeast winds and low relative humidity will create conditions for extreme fire behavior through the night. Fire is expected to spread at a rapid rate with long range spotting. Most of the fire activity will be wind driven.

The incident command post is located at Castaic Park. The evacuation center is located at Fillmore Venterans Memorial Building located at 511 Second St. Ventura, 805-524-1500. Large animal evacuations can go to the Ventura fairgrounds, 866-387-8911. Small animal evacuations are going to the Camarillo Animal Shelter, 805-388-4341 ext. 9.

The fire is under the command of California Interagency Incident Management Team 3, Jeanne Pincha-Tulley commanding.

The Ranch Fire started October 20th at 9:42 pm near Townsand Peak, southwest of Templin Highway and Interstate 5, in the Angeles National Forest. Ranch Fire has now involved 54,519 acres.

Firefighting resources on scene include 767 personnel with 66 Fire Engines, 7 dozers, 18 water tenders, 16 Hand crews, 3 Helitankers, 4 Helicopters.

Fire Behavior

Fire remained active through the night but not as much growth as last night. Infrared imagery indicates most heat is on the north flank in Turtle and Sharps Canyon near the Day Fire burn (last year), and to the west of Hopper Canyon.

Significant Events

Infrared flight obtained this morning. Residence and infrastructure protection were the main activity.

Planned Actions

Crews to hold existing lines on the east and north flanks and construct line on the south and west utilizing existing areas where the fire intensity has diminished. Provide residence and infrastructure protection.

Magic and Ranch fire are now on oposite sides of Hwy 126 at the LA-Ventura County line and are about 2 miles apart.
