Ventura County firefighters are mourning the loss of Fire Engineer Ryan Osler who died when a tanker rolled over Wednesday morning.

Fire Engineer Ryan Osler, 38, and another firefighter were working the Canyon Fire near Vandenberg Air Force Base when the crash happened around 6:20 a.m.

The apparatus, which was carrying 2,000 gallons of water, hit a roundabout at State Route 246 at Purisima Road in Lompoc, according to localtelevision station KSBY.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
