RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT THIS
EVENING FOR STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY ACROSS MUCH OF THE
EASTERN SIERRA AND WESTERN NEVADA..
* AFFECTED AREA...FIRE ZONE 272 GREATER LAKE TAHOE AREA...FIRE
ZONE 273 MONO-EASTERN ALPINE COUNTIES...FIRE ZONE 450 WESTERN
NEVADA SIERRA FRONT...FIRE ZONE 453 WEST CENTRAL NEVADA BASIN
AND RANGE AND FIRE ZONE 459 MINERAL AND SOUTHERN LYON COUNTIES.
* WINDS...SOUTHWEST TO WEST 15 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH
ACROSS THE REGION. RIDGES IN THE SIERRA WILL GUST TO 60 MPH.
WINDS IN THE VALLEYS WILL SUBSIDE AFTER 10 PM, BUT WILL REMAIN
GUSTY IN MID SLOPES AND RIDGES OVERNIGHT WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH.
* HUMIDITY...5 TO 15 PERCENT THIS AFTERNOON. POOR HUMIDITY
RECOVERY IS EXPECTED TONIGHT ESPECIALLY IN THE MID SLOPES AND
RIDGES.
* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL
CREATE CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THROUGH THIS EVENING.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS..
A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
WILL OCCUR. AVOID DOING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT CAN CREATE A
SPARK NEAR DRY VEGETATION...SUCH AS YARD WORK...TARGET SHOOTING..
