Red Flag Warning Lake Tahoe Basin for gusty winds and low humidity


National Weather Service - Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity in effect from noon today through 2200 this evening for the Lake Tahoe Basin and parts of western Nevada.

SUNDAY. THIS TROUGH WILL BRING INCREASING AFTERNOON AND EVENING
WINDS AND CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS SUNDAY.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS UPGRADED THE FIRE
WEATHER WATCH TO A RED FLAG WARNING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW
HUMIDITY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 10 PM PDT SUNDAY.

* AFFECTED AREA...FIRE ZONE 272 GREATER LAKE TAHOE AREA...FIRE
  ZONE 450 WESTERN NEVADA SIERRA FRONT AND FIRE ZONE 453 WEST
  CENTRAL NEVADA BASIN AND RANGE.

* WINDS...SOUTHWEST TO WEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH.

* HUMIDITY...5 TO 15 PERCENT.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL
  CREATE CONDITIONS THAT WILL PROMOTE RAPID FIRE GROWTH.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS..

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
WILL OCCUR. AVOID DOING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT CAN CREATE A SPARK
NEAR DRY VEGETATION...SUCH AS YARD WORK...TARGET SHOOTING...OR
