House Fire Claims Life of Moss Beach Resident
Half Moon Bay – At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, Coastside Fire
District/CAL FIRE responded to a fully involved structure fire on the 300 block of California Avenue in Moss Beach. Fire crews arrived to find one elderly female had escaped the fire and reported that her adult son was unaccounted for and last scene on the second floor of the residence. Firefighters began fire attack and a search. Access from the first floor to the second floor was cut off due to fire damage to the staircase. Fire crews had to make a fire attack and search on the second floor by laddering a window. The adult male was discovered deceased on the second floor. This unfortunate tragedy is under investigation.
Agencies that responded include San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, Coastside Fire Protection District/CALFIRE, San Mateo County Fire/CALFIRE, North County Fire, Half Moon Bay Volunteer Fire Department, American Red Cross, American Medical Response, Pacific Gas and Electric, Peninsula Humane Society and the San Mateo Building Department.
