Deadly Car Crash off Little Mountain

Time of the call: 01:01 Date: 12/22/13 
Location: 3500 Block of Ridge Line Dr. San Bernardino 
Resources Assigned: First Unit on the scene: ME 227 Number of Units: 1 Chief Officer, 4 Medic Engines, 1 Truck, 1 Heavy Rescue, Number of Firefighters: 19 Firefighters 

Cell phone caller to 911 stated that a small passenger vehicle has lost control and crashed off Ridge Line Dr. 

• First arriving fire engine company reported a vehicle has plummeted 200-300 feet off the side of Ridge Line Dr.
• Firefighters encountered steep terrain and unstable footing while making their way down to vehicle.
• Firefighters found multiple victims that were ejected from the vehicle.
• A total of four patients were ejected from vehicle leaving one victim trapped inside.
• Firefighters were able to rescue the trapped victim inside the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. Patients were brought to safety using San Bernardino City Fire Rescue Teams. Two patients were transported by ambulance and one by air. The three patients were taken to a local trauma center with major injuries.
• Fatalities: Two - 2 victims succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced by San Bernardino City Fire Paramedics on scene.

• Firefighter Injuries: None
