LAFD "Barrington Plaza" Wilshire Blvd. Brentwood Apartment Fire Knocked Down, 4 civilians + 1 child critical to hospital. #CaFire

Update 1800hrs [Final]: 11740 Wilshire Bl* 3 injured firefighters have been released
from hospital to remain off-duty; Sadly 1 pet dog proved beyond our help and died at scene; The fire, which demanded more than 20% of on-duty LAFD personnel to extinguish, remains under investigation; Residents of 51 (of 240 total in building) units (estimated 100-150 persons) have been displaced; Many are being assisted/sheltered by the American Red

Update 1500hrs: 11740 Wilshire Bl* Total 7 civilian assessed for smoke exposure; 2 of them declined transport; 5 civilians to hospitals (4 unkage/condition + 1 child critical); Additionally 3 LAFD Firefighters toGrossman Burn Center (per protocol) for evaluation of NON-life threat
burns (2 have leg burn, other has ear burn); Fire Cause remains under investigation; Wilshire Blved remains closed in vicinity + congested west of 405 Fwy; NFD - Brian Humphrey###
Update 1400hrs: Wilshire Bl* A handful of residents in- (and out) -side the building with minor to moderate respiratory complaints. This includes an adult and child on the 23rd floor that were
briefly taken to the roof.
Update 1300hrs: KNOCKDOWN; 214 LAFD FF's took just 71 min to
*fully* extinguish the blaze; 2 residents transported for smoke exposure not believed life threatening; No firefighter injuries; Fire held to one 2 bedroom unit on
11th floor of non-fire sprinklered (built 1961 - now called "386 unit")
of "Barrington Plaza" apt building; Cause under investigation Note: Truck 27 involved in civilian-injury TC @ Santa Monica/Kings Rd while enroute.
