Fundraiser for Bernadette Ayala
On October 9, 1999, Los Angeles County Firefighters responded to a call in the City of Pomona and found a young woman only 20 weeks pregnant who was preparing to give birth. Firefighters quickly intervened with the delivery and began CPR on the delivered baby. They continued CPR while transporting the baby, Bernadette, to a hospital.
Bernadette is now 13 years old and is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and a fundraiser is scheduled in the City of Pomona to help raise funds to buy her an adaptive tricycle. The fundraiser serves as a reunion and thank you to the three Los Angeles County firefighters who delivered Bernadette and helped to save her life.
WHO: The Ayala Family; The 1999 Responding Fire Captain Shawn Youngman, Fire Captain Jim Golondzinier, and Fire Fighter Specialist David McKibbin.
WHAT: Fundraising reunion event.
WHEN: Saturday, August 10, 2013, beginning at 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
(Presentation to firefighters is at 4:00 p.m.)
