MORENO VALLEY: Concrete cut away to rescue dogs #ConfinedSpaceRescue

Firefighters cut away sections of concrete to rescue three dogs that were stuck in a storm drain in Moreno Valley on Friday afternoon, June 21.

Cal Fire received a report just after 5 p.m. that at least one dog was trapped in a 200-foot storm drain behind houses near the intersection of Mountain Crest Drive and Pico Vista Way.

Eleven firefighters went to the scene. The dogs were rescued by 6:10 p.m., Cal Fire wrote in a news release.

None of the dogs was injured, Cal Fire said.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
