2013 FOURTH OF JULY
PRESS CONFERENCE

WHO:             Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby, Los Angeles City Fire Chief Brian Cummings, Los Angeles County Assistant Sheriff Todd Rogers, Los Angeles Police Commander Andrew Smith, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Agent in Charge John D’Angelo and a representative from The Grossman Burn Center.

WHAT:           Fire and law enforcement officials would like to encourage everyone to have a safe 4th of July and promote families to attend a Professional Firework Show to reduce fires and injuries.   Law enforcement officials will discuss the enforcement and penalties regarding illegal fireworks.  There will also be an opportunity to ask participating chief officers questions relating to concerns and preparations for the 4th of July holiday weekend. 

WHEN:          Friday, June 21, 2013, 9:30 a.m.  

VISUALS:     Static displays of fire department and law enforcement vehicles.  “Safe and Sane” and illegal fireworks displayed.  The LACoFD Arson Unit will be detonating fireworks to demonstrate the potentially lethal power of illegal fireworks.

SOCIAL:        The public safety agencies in the greater Los Angeles area have joined together to promote safety awareness through the use of the #SummerSafetyLA campaign of Twitter and Facebook. #SummerSafetyLA will be launching Friday, June 21, 2013, at the press conference and will be used throughout the summer to raise awareness on all safety related topics.
