CA-VNC-#HiddenFire - Wildfire at the east of Simi Valley 43 acres. Good progress

VCFD Hidden Fire Brush Fire - Ventura County firefighters are currently working a brush fire in the hills near Los Angeles Ave. and Stearns St. in Simi Valley. 

UPDATE - Hidden Fire - The fire at the east of Simi Valley is now being called 43 acres. Four fixed wing aircraft and one helicopter have been released. The VCSO helicopter continues to make water drops on the fire. A map showing where the fire has burned cannow be seen on our website.


UPDATE (1806) - Hidden Fire - The fire at the east of Simi Valley is now being called 43 acres. Four fixed wing aircraft and one helicopter have been released. The VCSO helicopter continues to make water drops on the fire. 


UPDATE (1742) - Hidden Fire - The fire near Simi Valley is now 30% contained and the forward spread of the fire has been stopped. This will allow the firefighters to gain ground on the containment. One helicopter has been released. Once the fire is completely contained, there will be extensive "mop up" to ensure all embers within the burn area have been extinguished. 


UPDATE  (1729) - Hidden Fire - Excellent work by firefighers on the ground has led to two of the four air tankers being cancelled. Metrolink trains will now be allowed to roll through at 5 mph. and drop off passengers.


UPDATE (1711) - Hidden Fire - the fire near Simi Valley is still burning but firefighters have begun to gain the upper hand. More than 150 firefighters are now on scene or in route. The first air tanker has arrived. Metrolink service is expected to resume at about 6 p.m. 


UPDATE  (1700) - Hidden Fire - The Hidden Fire burning on the east end of Simi Valley is now being called 30 acres. Winds are expected to continue out of the west and diminish at sunset. The firefighters have good access to the area and continue to make progress on the ground and from the air.


UPDATE (1646) - Hidden Fire - The Hidden Fire burning on the east end of Simi Valley continues to grow but firefighters are making good progress. There are now more than 100 firefighters on scene or in route. Two water-dropping helicopters are working the fire and four fixed-wing aircraft are now in route.
