Sacramento: Drunk Hits Fire Truck, Fights Firefighters, Goes To Hospital, Wakes Up In Jail This Morning

DRUNK JAILED FOR CRASHING INTO APPARATUS
A man who slammed into the back of a Sacramento fire truck is out of the hospital and is now in jail.

David Hawley, 29, was allegedly driving while under the influence Saturday night when he drove through a red light, hit a taxi van, another car, and then ran into the back of a fire truck near 21st and J Streets.

Citizen Hawley got out of his car after the crash, and began to struggle with the Firefighters who were responding to an unrelated medical call. Hawley was taken to the hospital initially after the accident.

He is now in jail facing charges of hit and run and DUI.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
