A body was discovered in a vehicle after firefighters extinguished a car fire in Anaheim that caused a series of explosions outside an apartment complex.
Residents reported the sounds of explosions coming from the vehicle, which was parked on the side of the road in the 100 block of Westchester Street.
"One of our officers reported seeing explosion that sent glass across the roadway," said Anaheim police Sgt. Bob Dunn.
The body was found in the driver's seat of the vehicle. Details regarding the identity of the deceased were not immediately available, but a family member told NBC4 the victim is a Cypress College student.
Police received the first reports of explosions and fire at about 3 a.m. The car was parked on a street next to an apartment complex.
"I thought it was a car crash, but then I heard people screaming," said neighbor Krystal Escapita. "There were a lot of flames."
Neighbors said the vehicle might have been involved in a crash before it was pushed to the side of the street.

My Theory for now: gas leak, ignited by car ignition this a.m.?

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
