Glendale couple rescued after car lands on neighbor's roof
GLENDALE, Calif. - The driver of a black Cadillac lost control of his car as he began pulling out of his Glendale driveway and careened onto the roof of his neighbor's home below, a police sergeant said. The incident was reported at 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Audraine Drive, said Glendale police Sgt. Sean Riley.
The driver, a man in his late 60s, was driving his Cadillac out of his driveway, with his wife beside him, when he "says he had a mechanical failure," said Riley.
The homes in the area are arranged on a steep, curvy hillside, he said. The Cadillac driver lost control before leaving his driveway, plunging off a hill " onto the roof of his neighbor's house directly below his driveway,"
Riley said.
"We had to get a crane service to lift the car off the house," he said. The "very elderly" man inside was not injured and neither were the driver and his wife. The roof sustained minor damage.
The car was towed away with superficial damage, and to be checked for mechanical failure, Riley said.
Neighbors used ladders to help the couple get out of the car, according to news reports.
California needs to bring back FREE street parking ...lol :)
