The 2012 Memorial - Save the Date!

A decade in the making, the California Firefighters Memorial was dedicated on the historic grounds of the State Capitol in April 2002. Since its unveiling, the Memorial has embodied the honor, courage, duty and sacrifice of those firefighters and first responders that we have lost in the line of duty. They will not be forgotten.

This year, as we commemorate our 10 year anniversary of the California Firefighters Memorial, we hope you will help us memorialize these hallmarks of the firefighting profession over a very special two day event October 19- 20, 2012.

Tenth Anniversary Memorial Tribute

We will be commemorating this historic event at the Memorial Wall at the State Capitol with a special tribute on October 19, 2012. Please join us October 19 from 6-7:30pm for a unique 10th Anniversary Tribute Event open to all where we will gather at the North Steps of the California State Capitol and walk in unison to the California Firefighters Memorial. We have an unforgettable evening planned in honor of the brave men and women who have, year after year, dedicated their lives to preserving ours. 

Send Us Your Tributes to Fallen Firefighters: The California Fire Foundation has created a special tributes page on Facebook to honor the lives, legacies, and sacrifice of CA’s fallen firefighters and their loved ones.The page is intended to serve as a reservoir of stories, memories, and other sentiments in honor of California’s bravest. The collection of tributes will be displayed at the Memorial Anniversary Tribute Event on October 19th.

Tenth Annual California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony

On Saturday, October 20, 2012, the names of 39 fallen firefighters will be added to the Memorial in the Tenth Annual California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony. The Memorial Ceremony is open to all, and is California's annual tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our state safe. The procession of uniformed firefighters will stage at the Capitol South Steps at 10:00am. The Memorial Ceremony begins at 11:30am.
