LODD: San Jose Captain Jose Martinez

It is with a heavy heart that the San Jose Fire Department announces the passing of Captain Jose Martinez on August 10th, 2012 after a courageous fight with cancer. The aggressive cancer took our brother in a very short time. He was 41 years old. He is survived by his wife Melissa, son Jonah Miguel (8) and twin girls Sofia Maria and Olivia Eleanor just 3 weeks old.

Captain Jose Martinez served the residents of this great city with honor and pride and was a true Hero. He always treated the people around him with respect and kindness and he took great pride in coming to work to help those in their hour of need.
Please keep Jose's family in your thoughts and prayers as they struggle to make sense of the loss of a great man and a phenomenal Firefighter.
Memorial Service:
The memorial will be held in Fresno, CA on Friday, August 17 at 10am.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.
