CA-TGU Ponderosa Fire - 500 acres in brush (Photo)

  Update 16:45 : 500-acres, Rapid Rate of Spread. Burning to the northeast, two miles outside Shasta County.
Evacuation of homes near Manton as a 500-acre blaze.
 Mandatory evacuations are in effect at Ponderosa Way and Forward Road, she said. The fire is spreading rapidly toward Digger Butte Road.

Location: SE of Minton, Tehama County, Ca.
Sizeup: Rapid rates of spread observed.
Evacuations: In Progress. evacuation center at Manton School, per  PIO Cris Hartman.
 IA:  #Wildire started in a canyon between the town and Highway 36. was reported at 10 acres around 11 a.m.
