RED FLAGS: CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER - SANTA CLARITA VALLEY

RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST TUESDAY FOR GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY

 NWS - Red Flag Warning

URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE -RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY AFTERNOON FOR MUCH OF VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES FOR GUSTY NORTHEAST WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY.


AN UPPER LOW OVER THE FOUR CORNERS AND BUILDING HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE GREAT BASIN HAVE COMBINED TO PRODUCE DRY OFFSHORE FLOW OVER THE REGION.
 WINDS THIS MORNING WERE GUSTING TO OVER 50 MPH WITH WIDESPREAD HUMIDITY READINGS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS FALLING INTO THE TEENS AND SINGLE DIGITS.
 STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE THROUGH AND BELOW THE PASSES AND CANYONS. 

TIMING: A RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST TUESDAY. WHILE WINDS MAY WEAKEN SOMEWHAT TODAY. 
LOW HUMIDITIES WITH POOR OVERNIGHT RECOVERIES ARE EXPECTED IN MOST AREAS TONIGHT AND TUESDAY MORNING. WHILE SLIGHTLY WEAKER THAN TODAY GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS ARE EXPECTED AGAIN TUESDAY MORNING.
 IN ADDITION CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE EVEN DRIER ON TUESDAY WITH MORE WIDESPREAD SINGLE DIGIT HUMIDITIES. THEREFORE THE RED FLAG WARNING WILL CONTINUE IN EFFECT UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON

 * PEAK WINDS: NORTHEAST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH TODAY. WINDS SLIGHTLY WEAKER ON TUESDAY. 
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY: AS LOW AS 9 PERCENT. 
* IMPACTS: IF FIRE IGNITION OCCURS THERE COULD BE RAPID SPREAD OF WILDFIRE THAT WOULD LEAD TO A THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED. THIS IN COMBINATION WITH DRY FUELS COULD CREATE EXTREME FIRE DANGER AND/OR FIRE BEHAVIOR. PLEASE ADVISE THE APPROPRIATE OFFICIALS OR FIRE CREWS IN THE FIELD OF THIS RED FLAG WARNING.
