LACoFD GREAT SHAKEOUT EARTHQUAKE EXERCISE AT
DEL VALLE REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER

Who? Los Angeles County Fire Department
What? Los Angles County Fire Departments Urban Search and Rescue Team, CA-TF2, will conduct an all day exercise demonstrating a simulated response to a local earthquake catastrophe with a large number of collapsed structures and people who are trapped. LACoFD’s Urban Search and Rescue Team responded to the Haiti earthquake catastrophe (2010), the New Zealand earthquake (2011), and the Japan earthquake and tsunami catastrophe (2011).
When? Thursday, October 20, 2011.
8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where? Del Valle Regional Training Center

The Los Angeles County Fire Department is proud to be joining more than 8.3 million people throughout California and over 800,000 people in other Western states in the 2011 Great Shakeout earthquake drill on October 20, 2011 at 10:20 a.m. The drill involves people in schools, businesses, organizations, and homes who will simultaneously practice protecting themselves during an earthquake and thereby improve their preparedness plans. The 2011 Shakeout Exercise scenario simulates a magnitude 7.8 earthquake on the San Andreas Fault.
