 Incident Name/Type: Canyon Fire (CA-KRN-27244) #Wildland Fire west of Tehachapi, caused by civilian plane crash resulting in one fatality(Some reports of 2 fatalities), now approx. 3,000 acres, 0% contained. ICP is located at the Gold Dome House on Blackburn Canyon RD

Update: 07:30 9/5/11. 4759 acres with 5% containment, 2 fatalities, 12 homes, 15 outbuildings, 3 RVs, multiple vehicles destroyed. #CaFire
OFFICIAL UPDATE: The Canyon Fire is now estimated at 3500 acres with 0% containment. Erratic winds and steep, rugged terrain have challenged firefighting efforts. 600 firefighters are on scene. Evacuation orders are in place for residences in areas that are south of Highline Road, north of Oak Creek, west of White Oak, and east Water Canyon. The Kern County Sheriff Office is evacuating residents in the affected areas. In addition, the ReadyKern system is also being used to advise residents of evacuations.
An evacuation center has been set up at Jacobsen Junior High, 711 Anita Drive in Tehachapi.
The general public is advised to dial 211 for information about the fire.

Update: 2200hrs - Blackburn Canyon being evacuated time now per reverse 911 calls.An evacuation center is being set up at Old Jacobson junior High, 126 S. Snyder Ave. structures fire now 3,500 acres, 0% contained. 600 firefighters, 1 helicopter continues to perform water drops. staging area for firefighters is along Snowshoe Lane, a loop road on Old West Ranch..
Update: 2000hrs - 3,000 acres, 0% contained. Windmill farms and railroad line threatened. CDF IMT #6 (Chaney) mobilized. LACoFD E84's assigned to helispot for County Copters 12 & 16 that will be working the fire tonight. Helitender also assigned.

Date/Time Started: 11:30hrs Sunday, Sept. 4, following the crash of a Cessna 210, reportedly out of Southern California. Wildfire began in grass in the Old West Ranch area near an area burned in the 2010 West Fire. That fire burned 1,658 acres and destroyed 23 homes and additional outbuildings.
