CalFire employee convicted 19 counts of lewd and attempted lewd acts

CalFire employee has been convicted of 19 counts of lewd and attempted lewd acts with child under age 14

SACRAMENTO, CA - A former CalFire employee has been convicted of 19 counts of lewd and attempted lewd acts with child under age 14 by a Sacramento jury, the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday.

The victims were family members of Lloyd Kindred ranging in age from 6 to 14, said district attorney spokeswoman Shelly Orio.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department began investigating the Orangevale man when his step-daughter revealed in December 2009 he had been molesting her for seven years, beginning when she was 6 years old, according to court documents.

Orio said sheriff's investigators learned Kindred had molested two generations of family members. Testimony was presented that Kindred molested his victims at his Orangevale home and at CalFire where he worked in information technology.

Kindred was also found guilty of one count of attempt to use a minor for child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Sentencing was set for Jan. 14 in Sacramento County Superior Court.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
