CA-INF-Mono Fire - 500 acres with 5% containment

Updates: The Mono Fire(CA-INF -934) is now 500 acres with 5% percent contained.

The Mono Fire is burning in the Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area of the Inyo National Forest. It is burning in between US 395 and the Mono Craters, south of Highway 120 East. Highway 120 east is now closed as are the day use areas at South Tufa and Navy Beach on the shores of Mono Lake. The fire is currently 500 acres. A burn-out operation is being performed this morning from Highway 120 East to control the northern flank of the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Outlook
Growth Potential: Potential for growth to 600 acres.

Terrain Difficulty: Mostly flat terrain extending into Mono Craters.
