EAST LOS ANGELES - A car involved in a race crashed on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway, and a Los Angeles County Fire Department truck that responded to the accident was rear-ended by another vehicle, authorities said today. The racing crash was reported at 10:53 p.m. Thursday on the northbound 5 near the Indiana Street offramp in East Los Angeles, according to the California Highway Patrol. It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt.
No firefighters were injured in the second crash, which involved a squad truck from Station 3, said county Fire Dispatch Supervisor Phil Ulloa. No one was seriously injured in the car that rear-ended the squad truck, an On Scene camera crew reported from the site.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
