Crews have made good progress building containment line along Winston Ridge. Burn operations planned for this area may not be necessary thanks to this success.

Fire activity continues to decreased today with the favorable weather conditions. Helicopters are helping to cool hot spots in the Chilao area near Alder Saddle with an occasional retardant drop from air tankers.

Several hand crews were inserted by helicopter on the eastern flank of the fire in the San Gabriel Wilderness. Those crews are making good progress with line construction along Chileno Canyon.

The originally planned firing operation from the Mt. Wilson area to the north and northeast was delayed for another day due to a lack of ideal weather conditions. This operation is planned in an easterly and northeasterly direction. The pre-treatment control lines are anchored in and waiting for the burn operation.

Line will be improved between the headwaters of Bear Creek toward Mt. Waterman, then easterly toward the San Gabriel drainage. Direct handline has been initiated from Forest Highway 2, and is advancing forward to the south. Crews will build more line from Chileno Canyon, north to Twin Peaks continuing northwest to Cloudburst Canyon and on to Pinyon Flats.

Air tankers and helicopters are committed for needed support of Tuesday's operation. Aggressive patrol and mop-up will continue along Angeles Forest Highway 2. Suppression repair is active in the western half of the fire, paralleled by aggressive patrols and needed mop-up operations.

While contingency lines are in place and while some of these lines will continue to be improved, most efforts will be focused toward direct attack (edge of the fire) actions throughout most of the firefighting operation on the eastern flank of the fire where prudent and safe.

ll continue to be improved, most efforts will be focused toward direct attack (edge of the fire) actions throughout most of the firefighting operation on the eastern flank of the fire where prudent and safe.

The Station Fire Incident Command Post will complete it's moved today from Hansen Dam Recreation Area to the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area. An Incident Command Post or ICP at an incident is where the primary logistics functions are coordinated and administered.

It has been determined that the cause of the Station Fire is arson and is now a homicide investigation If you have any information or questions please contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department at 323-573-2387.

The Station Fire in it's 14th day and named because of its proximity to a nearby USFS Ranger Station has burned over 250 square miles of land within the Angeles National Forest and near surrounding foothill communities of La Canada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Acton, Soledad Canyon, Pasadena, Glendale and Sierra Madre. The goal of the Incident Management Team is to keep the fire west of Highway 39 and Angeles Crest Highway, east of Interstate 5, south of Highway 14, Pearblossom Highway, and Highway 138, and north of the foothill communities and the Angeles National Forest Boundary. The fire is moving into areas of the forest with no recorded fire history. The Station Fire is now the 9th largest fire in California since 1933. ****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
