FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING FOR DRY THUNDERSTORMS

Description: THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A FIRE WEATHER WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING. MOISTURE WILL INCREASE FROM THE SOUTH ON SATURDAY AND BRING WITH IT THE THREAT FOR ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE EAST SLOPES OF THE SIERRA AND INTO WESTERN NEVADA. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN HOT WITH SOME LOWER VALLEYS EXCEEDING 100 DEGREES AS RELATIVE HUMIDITY DROPS TO NEAR 10 PERCENT.
THE HOT... DRY CONDITIONS COMBINED WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS MAY CREATE HAZARDOUS FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WITH NEW STARTS AND RAPID FIRE GROWTH. IN ADDITION...ANY THUNDERSTORM WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE STRONG OUTFLOW WINDS OF UP TO 55 MPH.

Instructions: A FIRE WEATHER WATCH MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE FORECAST TO OCCUR. CHECK WEATHER.GOV/RENO FOR UPDATES AND POSSIBLE RED FLAG WARNINGS.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
