CAL FIRE Firefighters down w/ Heat Injuries, Farm animals die

Two firefighters hurt in Rubidoux fire; farm animals killed

About two dozen chickens, two dogs and a goat died Tuesday in a fire in Rubidoux.

Two Cal-Fire firefighters suffered minor heat-related injuries at the scene at the corner of Castellano Road and Rounder Drive, fire officials said.

The structure fire was reported at 12:43 p.m. and spread to several backyards. Flames came close to other homes and vehicles in the area, Cal-Fire officials said.

The blaze burned 1 1/2 acres of brush, two sheds, four vehicles, a travel trailer and several chicken coops.

The blaze was contained at 2:20 p.m.
