CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of a wildland fire on Hy 79 north of Gilman Springs in Lambs Canyon.Note: They called in the smoke check (outside the Forest) location to triangulate with Keller Peak Lookout yesterday.
Road Closures: The Incident Commander has requested CHP to close all northbound lanes of Hy 79 until further notice. Updates at CHP website at www.chp.gov for updates on road closures. Motorists are urged to comply with road blocks for their safety and the safety of firefighters and emergency equipment.
Final Update: 17:10 Hy 79 was re-opened at 4:30 p.m.. The fire is 80% contained and updated full containment expected by 7:00 p.m.
Update: 17:00 p.m.- 80% contained
Update: 1:50 p.m.- One firefighter is being treated for heat-related injuries. Fire is approximately 280 acres and 30% contained. Fixed-wing aicraft is on hold.
Update: 1:00 p.m. -Fire is now approximately 300 acres with a potential of 1000. No injuries reported.
IA: 10 acres burning in light to medium fuels at a moderate rate with a potential of 500-1000 acres. No structures threatened and no evacuation orders.
