CAL FIRE - BEU - 1,650-acre vegetation management burn

What: Cal Fire San Benito/Monterey has announced it will conduct a 1,650-acre vegetation management burn.
When: Sunday from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: The burn will be conducted about 14 miles east of Salinas, near McPhails Peak in the Gabilan Mountains, at an elevation of about 3,000 feet.
Why: The burn is being conducted to reduce hazardous fuels.
Note: Officials say smoke may be present for several days.
