Jesusita Fire Update: Sunday, 050909 -0900hrs - Holding at 8,733 acres fire is now 55% contained.
Evacuations: More closures lifted allowing residents to go home. Only 140 homes are now under evacuation orders, affecting about 350 people
Damages: According to Cal Fire, 33 homes have been destroyed, 47 homes have been damaged, and two outbuildings were destroyed.
Jesusita Fire OSCC News and Notes: Sunday, 050909 -0745hrs -The Fire has burned 8,733 acres and is 55% contained. 3,500 homes are still threatened and 31 homes and 2 outbuildings have also been destroyed. No significant fire growth.
Foothill road (HWY 192) HWY154remain closed except for emergency vehicle traffic only. Repopulation efforts continue resulting in 90% of the evacuated area is able to return home. Perimeter control, continue structure protection, line construction, mop-up and patrol structures. Handline construction is continuing in the West Fork of Cold Springs Creek. If the current weather conditions remain favorable, control strategies will be successful.

Fog, Drizzle, Cooler temperatures, higher humidity, and lack of wind helped with fire control.
With the influence of the fog, the fire laid down until mid morning. No significant fire growth. Occasional flareups and torching.
Continued line construction, mop-up and patrol structures. Continued handline construction in West fork of Cold Springs Creek.
Mandatory evacuation orders lifted south of Highway 192: Re-population efforts began today resulting in 70% of the evacuated area able to return home. All areas South of Foothill Road/Stanwood/HWY 192 are now within an evacuation warning area.
The remaining 30% of evacuees will be re-populated over the next two operational periods..

Residents may return to their homes and businesses. Please remember that an Evacuation Warning stills exists in the area. Returning residents and business owners are cautioned to remain aware of the potential for an evacuation order on short notice.
