MMU: Fire Apparatus Engineer Dan Campbell passed away

Mr. Daniel V. Campbell "Dan the Man" of Visalia passed away Wednesday January 14, 2009 in Visalia at the age of 38. Danny was born July 21, 1970 in Van Nuys, California.

Dan worked as a Fire Apparatus Engineer for the California Dept. of Forestry and Fire Protection for Mariposa County and most recently in Tulare County.

He settled in Visalia where he has been a member of the CDF Local #2881 and has dedicated his services to out surrounding communities. Dan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed flying RC helicopters, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.

He will be remembered as a loving and caring son, soon to be husband, best friend and Fireman. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his parents Judy and Aleks Radko of Signal Hill, his Aunt Kathy Peters, Uncle Bruce Abbott, Cousins Petty Officer First Class Mike Peters, Terri Peters, second cousin Brett Peters, his fiancé Katie Brown and her daughter Kiersten, as well as numerous brothers and extended family of Cal Fire.

Off Duty death: Madera-Mariposa-Merced CAL FIRE Fire Apparatus Engineer Dan Campbell passed away yesterday evening at 7:15 P.M. at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia, California,after a short acute illness..
Dan also served several years in the Tulare Unit as a Paid-Call Firefighter, Firefighter I and Engineer, and was a resident of Visalia.
Dan's family is very appreciative of everyone's thoughts, prayers and generosity during this very difficult time of their life.
Funeral arraignments:
A graveside service will be held Tuesday January 20, 2009 , at 9:00am at Visalia District Cemetery. A closed casket visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel.

  1. Dan was like a brother to me. We have been friends since age 12, and did everything together. R.I.P. brother, I love you.

  2. Dan the Man...I will miss you brother. I only knew you for 6 weeks in Riverside, but I am a better person now for having known you at all. You were always happy and always smiling. You were always there for all of us. You inspire me to be a better man. Heaven is a better place now that you have arrived. God bless you and your family.
