2 Firefighters Crash Through Floor In House Fire
Two firefighters fell through the floor of a burning two-story home in Los Feliz Saturday, but only suffered minor injuries, officials said. The firefighters were on the second floor of a very-large house when it gave way, causing them to fall to the bottom floor, officials said. Their injuries were described as "minor muscular or skeletal injuries" by a fire department spokeswoman, and a video journalist at the scene said the most severe injury occurred to one firefighter's ankle.
The fire was first reported amongst a row of mansions along a hilly section of Los Feliz Boulevard midway between Vermont and Western avenues in an upper-income section of Los Feliz, just south of the Greek Theater. The fire department said the fire was reported at 4920 Los Feliz Blvd. at 12:34 a.m.
As the fire burned through two floors and into the attic, two firefighters fell through the second floor to the first, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Kelley said.
Fifty-two firefighters took 49 minutes to put out the flames, according to Los Angeles fire spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies.
No one else was injured, and officials at the scene said no one was in the house when it burned.
